4th of July Coronado 15k

The 39th Annual Coronado Independence Day 15k was a kick off point to begin training again for winter races. This race is flat and fast...hahaha except for me. My pace was 10:47. Wow, I have a lot of training to go to get back to sub 10:15 minute pace. *sigh*
It's just an eye opener of where I am starting and where I need to be. Just needs to stay focus on my goals.
The race got started 30 minutes late at 0730 at Tideslands Park. The course took us past Coronado Municipal Golf Course out onto Silver Strand  Blvd into the Naval Amphibious Base, then back to the park. There was no wind and the temperature was in about 68 and by the end was 78 degrees with little wind. At mile 3.8, I saw the first place runner heading back to the finish line with a pace of 5:03!  While running through the military base, morning colors began. Some of the runners were in the military, stopped running and stood at attention. As a veteran, I wished I had stopped too. Thank you volunteers and Coronado for hosting this event. I no idea we got bling for this race! Great surprise!
It's beautiful here.
